The FSO Ailsa is deployed at the Culzean High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) field approximately 145 mile (233 kilometers) off the coast of Aberdeen in a water depth of 295 feet (90 meters).
MODEC was responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the FSO. SOFEC, Inc., a subsidiary of MODEC, designed and supplied the Internal Turret mooring system of the FSO.
Designed for 25 years of continuous operations without dry-docking, the FSO has a capacity to receive 25,000 barrels of condensate per day and a storage capacity of 430,000 barrels. The FSO was delivered to Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited in June 2018, and commenced operations in June 2019.
This project represents a significant milestone for MODEC in gaining entry into the important North Sea oil and gas industry.
