The FSO Ailsa will be deployed at the Culzean High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) field approximately 145 mile (233 kilometers) off the coast of Aberdeen in a water depth of 295 feet (90 meters).
MODEC was responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the FSO. SOFEC, Inc., a subsidiary of MODEC, designed and supplied the Internal Turret mooring system of the FSO.
Designed for 25 years of continuous operations without dry-docking, the FSO has a capacity to receive 25,000 barrels of condensate per day and a storage capacity of 430,000 barrels. The FSO has been delivered to Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited in June 2018, and is anticipated to start its operations in the second quarter of 2019.
This project represents a significant milestone for MODEC in gaining entry into the important North Sea oil and gas industry.
