The FSO Kome Kribi 1 is a converted 357,000 dwt ULCC tanker designed to handle 225,000 barrels of oil per day and store in excess of 2 million barrels of oil. The FSO is moored with a tower yoke mooring system, which is one of the largest in the world.
In addition to the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the FSO, MODEC was also responsible for design, procurement and installation of a 30-inch pipeline, 22 kilometers long from the shore near Kribi, Cameroon, out to the tower yoke mooring system. Our responsibility included the installation and burial of the pipeline in an environmentally sensitive area at the shore approach.
First oil was achieved in September 2003.
